Conserve Water

- It takes about 72 billion gallons of water a year, worldwide, just to make the empty bottles that hold water.
Save Energy
- A compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) will last up to 13 times longer than a regular light bulb.
- One person taking public transportation can save 200 gallons of gasoline per year.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Recycling one glass jar saves enough energy to watch TV for 3 hours.
- One mature tree can be saved by recycling 50 pounds of newspaper.
- Plastic shopping bags take 500 or more years to break down.
Habitat/Wildlife
- Scientists estimate that 1 in every 6 species of animals is threatened with extinction.
- North Dakota and Minnesota have 24 plant and animal species that are threatened or endangered.
